The trail of Gizeux invites you to discover the main element of our environment: the tree. Sometimes shelter for many different species, sometimes construction material; sometimes wild, often planted, the tree has not yet stopped to surprise us!
Follow the signs to get to the arboretum where you can see many different tree species. Try to recognise and sniff their smell. Then follow the poplar trees and hedges which are important resources both for people and animals. Cross the forest and have fun guessing the age of the trees or measure their size.
The trail ends in the shade of the plane trees with a view on the castle!
Visit the Gizeux castle before you go. The De Laffont family has been living there for more than 230 years. Stéphanie and Géraud will give you a warm welcome. They are never short of ideas for sharing the passion for their patrimony.
Don’t forget to admire the rare and beautiful marble orants of the Bellay family (17th century).
