This heritage trail invites you to learn all about a piece of the region’s history, guided by an emblematic figure. From Montsoreau to Candes-Saint-Martin, turn back time by more than a century and take a walk with Simon, a young bargee companion.
Cracking sounds of boats and sails, the loud noise of goods being unloaded, appeals and swear words … use your imagination and follow in the footsteps of the bargees living the last glorious days of the Loire navy in the second half of the 19th century. Live through the great moments of this two Loire villages again and discover sites still carrying the remains of their past.

The walk takes you to the best spots which are only know by the locals of Montsoreau and Candes-Saint-Martin, the "Plus Beaux Villages de France" (most beautiful villages of France). On top of the hillside, enjoy a stunning view over the Loire river and its confluence.
